Genesis Tour-De-Fer 20
My purpose touring bike, fully spec’ed with disc-brakes, front dynamo hub, Sun Rims “Rhyno Light” rims, Schwalbe Mondial tyres, integrated front & rear super-bright lights, front & rear mudguards, pannier racks (front removed), 3 water-bottle mounts, KMC chain and full Shimano Tiagra groupset.
I’ve added MTB clip-in pedals, a honey-brown coloured Brooks B17-Imperial leather saddle, Cycle2Charge USB mount (utterly pathetic – I don’t recommend it!), Ortlieb panniers and Altura Dryline handlebar bag.
This is my regular ride, my one bike for many tasks. With road tyres on, I’ll ride my club’s time trials; with cx tyres on, I’ll be flying along the canal tow path and forest tracks.
I’ve fitted MTB clip-in pedals for a bit more energy capture on long and/or fast rides.
My ‘other’ ride, will get me from A to B via whatever hills, tracks or roads I choose, just without any great deal of speed. Definitely performs better than the CX in my club’s winter duathlons with big climbs on muddy, grassy, icy or just wet tracked terrain. Not a bike for longer rides though.
